I have a 55 plate 3 door deisel manual 80k miles, on loan today with view to purchase, I've had a quick look over already, body condition etc. Are there any simple checks I can do on the driveway (VCU?) to check the drivetrain etc?

Just check the normal stuff,

Does it start with in 2 -3 turns - if not may need new injector

Does it have any rust- not normally an issue

Do all the doors and windows unlock / work

Back windows go up and down with door and with switch

Service history

Still got 4 wheel drive, look underneath

Change gear nice and smooth

Good matches tyres - FLs are very susceptible to poor miss matched tyres, biggest tread should be on the back

Abs light comes on and goes off

do the 1 wheel test for the vcu if its fooked the vcu can trash the IRD and rear diff and be expensive to put right

Whats the 1 wheel test, jack a back wheel up and see if it spins?
