Hello all,

Im fairly new to Landies, apart from my old man owning a couple when i was growing up! I have just bought myself a 1994 Defender 90 300tdi with the county body (windows in the back), however i cant remember when i looked at it wether it had an air intake on the side of the passenger front wing and i can see from the couple of pics i took that it doesnt have one on the drivers side front wing?

I thought the 300tdi had the air intake on the drivers side? It comes up when i go to insure it, as a 300tdi and thats what the guy selling it says it is, but is there any reason the air intake wouldnt be there???

has it always been a 300tdi? i think 200s have it on the passenger side mine does but thats from 1989

94 - early 300.

check under the bonnet to see where the pipework goes. It could have had a replacement wing. ITs the only way to confirm. some pics would be nice to :) can let you know if its really a 300 then.

It seems to have the air intake on the passenger side, which would suggest 200tdi, but like i say, it comes up on insurance as a 300tdi? Can someone confirm which this is???

And is there any way of finding out if its been converted in the past or something, as the prev owner doesnt seem to know...

doesnt the 200 have the turbo at the top??

my 300 has the turbo lower than that, like half way down!! and also the air intake is the wrong side!

Looks like a 200 to me. Simple way to tell, if the dipstick is in the front of the engine (in front of the oil filler cap) its a 300, if it's on the side of the engine it's a 200.

thats a 200.

check the engine number against the v5. would be worth checking chassis number whilst your there too.

could of been a 300tdi, but someone replaced it with a 200tdi not really knowing or just never told the DVLA

Found my answer, the 11L refers to it being a 200tdi :) Odd how it comes up on insurance as a 300tdi? Is there any way to rectify this??

Thanks

Martin
