Hi
I am looking to do the cambelt on my disco 200 tdi, ive read the manual several times and there is one thing im not sure on, hoping you can help !
The manual states that when refitting the belt, the three bolts on the injector pump pully should be slackened but does not explain why ?????
Any ideas chaps ????
Any advice greatly appreciated as i cant afford to do this wrong.

whatever you dont undo big nut ,slacken the three bolts to help with aligning belt when fitting and aligning pump correctly,crank is fixed with pin, cam with mark ,once fitted and tensioned,nip bolts up turn crank over twice refit crank pin check cam mark retension belt ,slacken three bolts,while holding center nut 7/8 or 22mm fit pin and hold pulley against pin with spanner on nut clockwise tighten the three bolts you need to turn over twice to spread tension on belt
 
Sorry another question - is there any way of locking the crank without having the correct tool ?????

Err, you are contradicting yourself here. If you want to do it properly, get the tool or have one made up, its just a wading bung with a shaft through it. tricky bit is drilling the bung perfectly central.

Its well worth the hassle/small cost to get the right tool.
