I am led to believe that on older 300tdi and td5 defenders with a nanocom you can turn off the immobiliser.
My question is can I turn it off on my 2010 tdci puma?

I don't think so, the nanocom is very limited as to what it can do on pumas. All it can do is identify faults and clear them, and provide live running information. I recently bought one, despite its limitations, so depending where you are you are welcome to give it a try.
