While changing wheels today I noticed some play in the driversr side front hub. I tightened up the bearings and took it for a spin and it pulled to the left, not badly but enough.

I stripped the hub down and checked the bearings etc, put it all back together, noticed one of the lugs had snapped off the brake pin retainer on the caliper .

It still pulls but not as bad and the steering wheel isn't in the same position when travelling in a straight line.

Any ideas?

I'm getting a new caliper asap and not driving it until I get one but I could do with finding out what the other problem is.

If it's pulling to the left it's unlikely to be an issue on the drivers (right) side.

I'd check the calipers, pistons and pads on the left, and the wheel bearings, both front and rear. I'd also have a look at all the steering linkages and associated bushes, including the steering shaft UJ's which are known to bind when old/mucky .. ;)

Hi if its pulling to the left then your front right caliper pistons could be siezed check them first

OK, but I reckon if it's pulling to the left when driving normally, he's not mentioned braking, there is much more likelihood of problems on the left causing drag on that side. Very few circumstances where things 'free off' on one side and allow the other side to pull. Only an opinion, mind, I have been wrong before ...

LOL, feckorff .. it's rare mind .. ;)

It pulls to the left when I am driving not just on braking.

I'll get it all stripped down over the weekend and hopefully see whats what.

Cheers all.

Well I've replaced the knackered track rod end and sorted out the damper.

It still pulls but not as much as before.

I'm now thinking tyre or tracking related
