I have a series 2 landrover which was first registered on 9th January 1960. I believe with the new year, time to get it on a forecourt, time it took to find a buyer, and time it takes to get a vehicle registered, the must have been built in 1959, and would therefore be MOT exempt. Can anyone help me with how I would go about proving this? Thanks.
 
gaydon records may help, they used to do a heritage certificate with all details for about £15


my 1973 station wagon was registered in march 73 but on checking was built nov 72.... so at time tax exempt (73 will be as well soon lol )

Hi, thanks for your responses. I contacted the series 2 club and they advised my chassis number 'H6000365' is not recognised as a land rover issue! Does anyone know where/what this number is? It's stated in the log book!

As long as you've read it wrong

Are ya sure the first character is an "H" and not actually 14 ??

Looks like it just missed it as registered 9th Jan 1960 :( ergo as far as DVLA will be concerned built 9th Jan 1960





Still hardly the end of the world and for the better I think.

Even if my series II hadn't missed it by a year (9th Jan 1961) I'd still want it checked over ;)
 
Bromsgrove, the 'H' is stated in the log book. I believe it may be a '14'. I haven't had a look for the chassis plate on my vehicle........where is it usually located? I would also have the car looked over annually. Being MOT exempt would just mean I don't have to be stringent with getting the car looked over every year on the exact date since it was last looked over and I'd also have time to fix the problems without the car having to be off the road.
