What are the advantages and disadvantages of changing from 15" tyres to 16", exactly?
I see some opt for very tall tyres too, again what is to be gained and what do these changes compromise on?
I need to change my too narrow (7") alloy wheels to 8" or 10" steels to fit my 12.5" tyres anyway.
But if a steel wheel set with tyres comes up with 16" dia (or more?), should I be interested?
The use is mostly buzzin` about, with the odd greenlaning and off road pay + play time.

16"wheels give ya much more choice of tyres

Taller tyres give you higher speeds for the same rpm and also have the capability of driving over larger objects. On the downside it raises your lower gears too so your low box is not as low for crawling. As long as you have enough power to make use of the "overdrive" effect I would generally say that bigger would not be too much of a downside.

I run 265/16 and find these are agood size tyre and not too expensive to replace. A lot of it is up to personnel taste.

It's the actual size of the tyre that matters. 15 or 16 inch isn't relevant except that there's more choice available for 16 inch.

and if yu go out with other peeps, they are more likely to be on 16's

15" wheel are usually used for weird and wonderful sizes on jap stuff. like big old 44" tyres you see on lifted hi luxs and stuff. I take it you are fitting something like 33x12.50 tyres I would go for 15" because it will sit better. If you are going for normal tyre sizes then go for 16".
