Just a quick question really.. Why would one remove a front prop for everyday driving? Surely sticking it in 2h would do the same job but easier?
 
Often done because they believe it will give them vastly improved mpg.

In reality;

Can void insurance.
Make the vehicle unstable to drive as a higher 4wheel drive isn't good in rwd if not designed that way.

if it has a 2H setting as the poster said then its a series and designed that way

I've seen plenty of discos like it aswell, guess its not really doing any good also wouldn't they have to have centre diff locked? Sorry if that sounds stupid but diffs and locking is something I've still not got my head around
 
Having the front prop off on a series dont really help , you need freewheel hubs then you can isolate the diff and tracta joints in hubs , all three of which cause drag due oil esp in winter . From experience with a 2.25 diesel HTSH

Yes they would! Sounds like ya got ya head round it ok.
 
My 4x4 experience is with japs and they have 2h, lr are full time 4x4 correct? I'm still trying to learn all this stuff :eek: and thanks for confirming the diff thing for me
 
Series Land rovers are part time 4x4 like japs ie they have 2h and 4h and 4L all defenders,(except a very few very early) are fulltime 4x4 as are freelanders discoveries rangies etc .
