Guys,, Just fitted a replacement PS box to me 1985 110, managed to get a 4 bolt TD5 one off fleabay. It fits but the only problem is the hi pressure pipe from the pump to the box has a different fitting at each end on the new one.

I have both pipes, old and new, so the question is, is it ok to cut the metal pipes and join them with a compression coupler or similar from the plumbers? The pipe looks to be about 8mm and is quite stiff so probly not copper. Don't want it leaking again, at least til after the MOT is sorted.

BTW, top marks to Buster for his pukka instructions regarding PS box removal, puts the fekkin HAynes manual to shame;)

The plumbers idea could work certainly. But if i were you id take both hoses to a Pirtek type place and ask them to make you a new one up with the fittings you want on. Won't be very expensive either, probably less than £10 and you get a new hose you know isn't going to leak!!!
cheers
tom

I found a 8mm brass compression coupler on screwfix which ought to do the job, just not sure how much pressure is actually generated by the PS pump so difficult to tell if its OK or not.

OK, for those interested, went down the local power steering place and they sold me a 8mm steel compression coupler for £3, rated to 1000psi. Joined em up, put it all in, sorted. No leaks.
