On my 90 when its first started from cold the steering is very stiff. After a mile or so of driving it frees up and works fine. It's not using any fluid, any ideas what's causing it?

Cheers

Mines the same I think it's just down to cold weather and the fluid being thicker on first start up

New belt fitted, and a new tensioner. Made no difference. Got some spare time tomorrow hopefully, so going to try and bleed it.

Knackered PAS pump or steering box.

If these had steering racks without doubt it would be a dodgy rack, common issue to do with the valves inside on a lot of high mileage/older cars.

Not ofay with steering boxes, so don't know if they suffer the same issues.

Give it a fluid flush with new fluid and try bleeding it first.

If that doesn't cure it it's the pump or box.
