I have an old 80 trialer with a 2/4 petrol which is very good, but tend to find iam all over the place with the steering when you get bouncing around.
Can anyone tell me would P/S go on this unit

Can be done but if you are using it for tialling, check the rules first.
If the problem is controlling the steering when you are bouncing around, are you sure you want power steering? Won't lighter steering bounce around even more?
Are you sure it's not a driving style issue.

Yes you could be right i used to be ok 20 years ago now shoulders are starting to hurt.
i thought P/S would stop the wheels being pushed every where i.e the ram would hold against
