hi all
hope you all had a good xmas and new year.
just a simple q for most of you, i want to put a direct feed from the battery in the form of a cigarette lighter socket, so i can mount a cb radio in the head lining of my disco without wires trailing down to the cig socket in the center console.
do i have to wire a live from the battery + and a negative to the
battery - or does the negative need to be earthed to the car body.

many thanks
mr m

dont do it.
take a live feed from the fuse box and use the perm ground line in the interior light.

never take an unfused wire from the battery.

cheers mad hat man

i was going to put an in line fuse in on the positive side, but hoping direct from battery would stop interference

cheers

Personally I would get an amplifier power lead which is fused, wire it live to ye battery and put an exellent earth wire in place to the chassis and body running away from the unit without crossing the power lead.Ideally run it to the other side of the vehicle.Keep the power and the earth seperate.
