Anyone travelling to France in the next few days, be aware that the farmers are blockading some refineries so there could be fuel shortages in the offing.
New Zealand has successfully done away with subsidies. My farming friend is very happy with the £20k a year he gets for doing sweet FA.True socialism in an Agrarian economy of course.
Doesn't work for us, so FCUK everyone else...we need our EU subsidies because we are inefficient peasant-farmers.

Don't think they can intervene in protests, dates back to the Revolution. Try that in this country and the Miners strike springs to mind. You have to give credit where due, at least when there's a grievance they go at it with real commitment, unlike the UK where it's a case of 'we're not happy so we are going on strike for a couple of hours' or maybe even a whole shift.
I was over there 20 years ago & the farmers were blocking the roads with burning straw bales, whilst the gendarmerie looked the other way![]()
The Gendarmes generally only intervene if things get out of hand with damage to property or violence.Don't think they can intervene in protests, dates back to the Revolution. Try that in this country and the Miners strike springs to mind.![]()
