So, I'm looking at portable air compressors with up to maybe £80 to spend. I like Tmax, and can get locally the 'normal' one for £60, the Heavy Duty at £80

Anyone used them? Any good? Is the HD worth the £20 more? Anyone know of anywhere selling them cheaper? (Paddocks, Craddocks etc prices +vat which make them dearer)

Anyone think there are better ones on the market? Links?

NOT looking to wire it in permanently (at least not yet, though that might come) it needs to be a jack of all trades .. Landrover tyres, car tyres, school footballs, basketballs, occasionally to fill a large air tank for a quick blast with an impact gun.

Be interested to hear what others use for 4x4 tyres .. and how well their compressors cope in the field .. :)

You'll be lucky to get one thatll sufficiently fill an air tank for using an impact gun at that price.

I'm still interested in the Ring RAC900. Check it out on amazon, lots and lots of rave reviews

Cheers, Looked at that one, 55L/min, and £69, where the Tmax is 72 L/min and £60 ... Tmax seems to be top dog, I've done some checking round, just want others views. I only want to buy it once .. ;)

I've got the T Max HD one. I use it for the things you describe and it works very well does what it says on the tin really.

Only annoying thing with the t-max for tyre pumping is the lack of accurate gauge and the fact that you turn it on and off on the compressor, not on a trigger by the wheel.

Pump wise it's good though!

my tmax lasted around 30 blow ups before breaking and will only pump for approx 10 secs before cutting out, then have to use re set button and repeat the procedure,
have been told there are no spares available to repair them by Devon 4x4 so a complete lump of ****e, mine was the twin tanked one

Didn't think of that .. can see that being awkward. Any alternatives?

get yourself a heavy duty item from a car with air suspension like the lexus LS400 or lexus RX

Far better quality than most off the shelf solutions.
