Hi all,

I drive a 110 ex army Landy in work which is a great vehicle for getting around the sites I work on - wildlife reserves for conservation jobs.

However, it has developed a little problem with the gears. You can easily get into the low box and can easily move across into diff lock. It all works great in 1st, 3rd, reverse but if you try to get into 2nd gear the main gear lever pushes on the diff lock lever and pushes it out of diff lock and into neutral !

Before I take it to the garage does anyone know whether there is a quick and easy fix to this problem, or is it better off going into a garage to get sorted out?

Thanks for any help you can give

Karl

Is one of the sticks bent? Take the rubber gaiter off and have a look under, you could adjust the seating of the stick on the fitting under the gaiter, you will need a 17mm socket. Its just a splined shaft, turn it until the angle is not as far back. There is not really much else unless bits of your gearbox are actually hanging off which I doubt.

The garage are probably going to hit things with hammers and charge you £150 so don't take it there.

I agree. Move the main gear lever until it doesn't cause this problem. Don't go to the stealers they will just rip you off.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I was expecting the lever to be a pig to adjust, but did as you said and it was a doddle. Job sorted now and tested and it now stays in gear perfectly.

Cheers
