Long cross bolt I believe. Many places sell them because they are always bloody siezed!

thanks for the quick replies :)

bet they cost a packet :-(

you can see from my pic above mine will be seized solid

I think heat and patience is the only way, won't be so bad because you will re-bush it but I was swearing when I did my wheel bearing

just been looking and price varies from around £7 each after market to around £15 land rover
is it get what you pay for

are the landrover ones any better????

At least you got it out , the price should not be too bad , its gettin the correct part and if its in stock !

I myself would just get the cheapest........its just a long bolt?....but if it really does not look up to the job, send it back....

It's not out is it? I'd buy a cheaper one, make sure you put plenty of grease on it when you put it back on!

no ive not taken it out yet

will wait till i get the new bolts first ,just been looking by the time ive paid postage to germany it may be just as cheap to go to a landrover dealer over here ,i will check tomorrow

as for getting them out ,i will most likey cut it out , then where it goes throw the back bracket tap the remanding part of the bolt out

i will def be giving the new bolts a good greasing before fitting them !!!!

i dont to be honest ,i know the bolt head is a 15mm and the nut is a 19mm

but when it comes to bolt sizes i get confused lol

I might be able to sorce some from work myself if i knew the size lol as there are plenty of landrovers around here just not many freelanders

measure from base of head to end of thread measure thickness of bolt if metric that could be m16 x 350 mm

I will try to measure the one I put on the wife's car it was a genuine one and a hell of a job to get out I had a lump hammer with a punch in it after some hours of soaking with wd 40 and in the end I cut level with part they go into and carefully drilled them out but you must get the drill bit level and start with a small bit and work your way up until you are nearly there and the rest tapped out

just out of interest !

is there a reason the bolt is so long?
could you not just thread 2 smaller bolts in its place ,one on either side??
or is it a long one for something to do with strenght ? or may be if 2 short ones would put to much preasure on the back plate and snap the bracket ??

anyone ever tried?

(just asking out of interest lol hopefully my long bolts will arrive before weekend)

please please someone answer lol

right i started to try and get the bolt out with no joy !!!!

spent around 3 hrs yesterday ,smacking the bolt not moved a mm ,so i cut the bolt off so all thats left is the piece going throw the bracket but still cant move it

so then i drilled it,goyt a few dif size drill bits throw it but still cant shift it .

been throw my tool shed and found my old blow touch ,hopefully that will do the job !

question is how much heat to apply ??? as dont want to damage any thing ,ive never had to use heat before has anyone on here done this for the bolts?

Heat it till it glows ! I would find a LR dealer and call in to the parts depot they should have a exploded diagram on their computer of the suspension parts and nos , you can then point out which bolt you want !
