Should there be any play in wheel bearings. If so how much is acceptable.
Cheers.
Cheers.
none
They are new and only been run in for a couple of hundred miles so hopefully bedding in.
it's not unusual to pack the grease when you install it, then the grease migrates out a bit and causes a bit of give. Always good to check the bearing a hundred or so miles after fitment.
I always tighten mine by hand, spin the wheel, hand tight, spin and so on. It soon nips it up without any play, then stick the outer nut on tight as you will already know![]()
Not too tight as you risk spinning the inner nut and straining the tab washer which will allow the inner nut to move about.
All the ones I have removed have been little more than hand tight. I just nip them up reasonably tight and tap the washer over, never had any trouble with them coming loose.![]()
