Hi, can anyone say whether I can remove the plastic sill covers permenently, I have just done my sills, ready for the winter, and was thinking the only thing that makes them rust, is **** and crap, lodging between them and the sill, if I took them off would the car fail the MOT or anything or are they supposed to be just cosmetic. thanks Steve......................
 
Ah yes Disco 1.
I thought they were cosmetic, but was worried they might be there for any type of safety reasons e.g ''smoothing'' edges on metal or something which would lead to later failing an MOT
 
left mine off for same reason.
only downside was last winter all the slush formed between the sill and door when driving, then froze. mate ripped door handle off tryin to open it.
 
Cosmetic only, you can paint with a body protect like Schutz and then paint body colour if wanted.
 
Took my ones off. just as well I did as rust had started. I have just spent the last 2 days grinding off the rust, zinc primer couple of coats of satin black, then under seal spray the inside with a rust inhibitor then after that dryed lots of waxoil. Hope that will stop me having to cut them out for the next few years.
