Hi All.

Being now paranoid about the cost of running my additional RR ( need to take some tablets already). I booked it into my main dealer to have a warrantee inspection. 2 1/2 hrs for £120. I thought, well I can't find anything wrong with it, lets try and make sure. My theory being if they can find anything at all, they will, as they want to make money out of the inspection.

Well. They found nothing 'wrong' but advised the rear brake pads could do with changing soon.
They gave me a quote. ..................
£358+VAT.....and before you ask, yes only the pads not the disks as well.

Thats horrendous!

I did all 4 sets of brakes using Delphi for around £120....

Don't forget you'll need the wear sensor as it is quite easy to break it when removing!

Of course, I say £120......it did also cost me a 420 mile round trip, an overnight stay in a Hotel, 2 cooked breakfasts (one for me and one for the other half), £20 to the guy from Dynomec to remove the wheel nut I couldn't remove, and 2 tanks fulls of LPG!

Long story, search for my threads on it....basically the wheel nut disintergrated and would not budge for love nor money....

last year dealer did my rear discs and hand brake shoes for £120(I'd fitted new pads 2months earlier so they reused them) ,and £30 MOT ,which was ok ,then recently qouted £550 to change the 2 rear lower hub bushes , so going to do them myself.

Mine need doing

I have done all of the front ones
Just the rears to do ! Lol

got all the bits new bolts etc ,theres a write up on fullfatrr on how to do them , Ive shelled out and bought a proper removal kit off ebay so I'll see how it goes.

yes I remember your saga.
I will plan to do this in two steps.
1. Will the wheels come off? I don't think they have ever been off the car.
2. Change the pads

Land rover prices are a **** take, I was quoted over £600 for pads and discs all round for an 96 P38 and that was just the parts.

Remember to mark the position of the bolts before you slacken them,because when you turn them it adjusts your camber ,as the washers are off cantered .

Oh right

Nah, I didn't bother changing just the bushes

Much easier to change the complete arm rather than faffing about trying to remove bushes

And the price difference wasn't worth the effort

just to say the lower hub bush doesn't affect camber its a straight bolt ,its the top one that adjusts with the offset washer.

just done both rear lower hub bushes today took 5 hours altogether first one took 3 1/2 hours as I still had the hand brake on so couldn't get the #### back together after about an hour and a half trying took the hand brake off and it just pushed back together
dealer said £550 for this job , bushes were £20 push /pull kit was £110 so altogether £420 up. second one took about an hour ,going to have to invest in a bigger jack that gets the car off the ground in one go .
