hiya
after been doing some more investigation about this cruise control
alot of people who have got rover 75's have exactly the same ecu box fitted and there all reporting that once they fit everything it seems to be plug and play without having to get it activated ,
dont know if its true with a freelander
plus also finding alot of ecu boxes in the usa for around £40, but then want £175.00 for postage
so there goes a bargin
after the ecu part number scb100211L
gary
Gary,
Also keep your eyes open for the ECU without the 'L' suffix.
When Land Rover used an existing Rover Cars part, they usually added the 'L' suffix to it.
I can't swear that the two are identical but, on previous experience, they usually are.
A used
SCB100211 recently finished on eBay for £25.00 -
ROVER 75 MG ZT DIESEL CRUISE INTERFACE UNIT SCB100211 | eBay
As you can see from the picture, it has the both the Rover and Land Rover logos on it.
Another example of this, is the Defender 'One Touch' Rear Fog Lamp ECU (also made by Pectron

) -
Land Rover part number -
YWC104430L
Rover Cars part number -
YWC104430 (fitted to Rover 600 and Rover MINI)
The difference in price can be unbelievable
(prices from
Rimmer Bros.)
YWC104430L - £17.06 ex VAT (£20.47 inc VAT)
YWC104430 - £239.72 ex VAT (£287.66 inc VAT)
Similarly, a new Cruise Control ECU from Rimmer Bros.
SCB100211L - Supersedes to
SCB100212, which costs - £225.90 ex VAT (£271.08 inc VAT)
SCB100211 - £108.48 ex VAT (£130.18 inc VAT)
As you say that Pektron are no longer making it, I wouldn't mind betting that
SCB100212 is now made by someone else, hence the change of part number.
X-Part, who you mentioned in earlier post, are the company now handling the stocking and distribution of genuine Rover parts since Rover went tits-up.
Small world! - I'm not far from you, I'm in Horton Kirby. I was also in 71 Sigs LAD REME, from 1985 to 1998, you must have been there after I left.
