Hi

I need to replace this plastic cap on a heater pipe going to the heater matrix. See the attached photo.

What is the part number and where can I get one?

Its made of plastic and the last owner mangled it with pliers or vice grips.

Cheers

Dave

Hi

The picture is just for illustration purposes. The engine is out of a 1992 Disco 3.5 V8i and I've planted into my 90.

The cap that I need is made of plastic. The err4686b part is the brass radiator cap and does not fit :-(

Cheers

Thats a 'fill tower' standard stuff on 3.9 RRCs 1990 onwards for a short while then replace with a straight pipe that the 3.9 discos have now, I didn't know that 3.5 discos had one fitted.
The plug or the fill tower isn't shown in either my RRC or disco parts caralogues.
The plug looks very much like the standard rad top plug (was NTC4609 now ERR4686) which has a 1/2" bsp thread.

Is it actually working still ? If so I'd just leave it and try and find someone breaking a V8 at a later date

It is bizarre...I've been thru Microcat and the full parts PDF files from lrservice.ru and I don't see this pipe.

It does exist, believe me. Here is a photo of the 3.5 V8i in the 1992 Disco before I remove the inlet manifold.

Thanks Discool....I'll order a ERR4686 and see if it fits. The ERR4686B is a Brass version and the ERR4686 is the plastic one.

Will let you know how I get on

Cheers

yes it does exist ,they were used with the older water pumps as filling /removing air was an issue id already put no up

If hopefully it's a BSP thread then I would go to a plumbing shop ie. B&Q where I got my 'just in case' 1/2" BSP plug and look see... next size up or down to suit.
