Hi i am currently restoring my 90 and was just wandering what is the best paint to use on the axles and chassis?

I forgot to say i have heard of a paint called tetrashutz that people have used on their land rovers. Does anyone know if this is any good and where could i get it from??

used to work at Land Rover axles Perry Barr at the time of the launch of the lightweight and Metro the Michael Edwards era when crown wheel and pinion were lapped in a quality sets.
They used to use a black paint I recall called sunkarite (don't know if the spelling correct) but you could bake it and smack the hell out of it would not chip .
Cellulose based I believe, the axle cases,swivel housing etc were dipped in it. probably got too expensive or they reverted to water based paint when they moved the lot to solihull

Which one? As Trimite still make three versions.

Suncorite 215 MP0410 - A liquid product giving a thin phosphate/resin based protective coating
Suncorite 528 MP0417 - A ready-for-use, high performance black self-phosphating coating

I would be guessing but suncorite 528 mpo417 sounds the nearest. I recall spraying it thinned with cellulose thinners
