Hi guys after much deliberation and ummiing and ahhing i have decided to ask you guys for your opinion, my Land rover Series 3 109" Ex MoD paint work looks very tired especially around the wings and front.
After putting the first layer of hammerite on the interior (dark greeN) i thought that it would be a good colour for the outside, but after looking i just cant make my mind up as i love the patina on it at the minute (30 years 10 of which under a fern tree!) so should i paint it or not and if i do should i do it British racing green/brone green or military paint.
And could any one tell me the colour of the paint on this landy?

Haha unfortunatley thats not mine i dont have any pictures of mine at the moment i just wanted to know the colour of that partiular land rover.

Could you try T-cutting it? I've seen a couple of serieseseses (seri?) that have had they're bodywork done using t-cut and they look quite good, almost as good as repainting and you wouldn't need to worry about getting the right colour.
 
Take a part into a paint shop and have look at there colour chips, If there is no match get them to make it most paint shops do it.

Mine disco is going Nato green close ish, £16 a ltr in cellulose at my local most can do custom rattle can too.

I asked a local place how much they wanted to charge to paint a bulkhead (off the vehicle). I showed him a photo of it on my phone so they would actually know what I was talking about.

The price he quoted was £600 to prime and spray. That seems ridiculous to me. It doesn't need to be the quality of finish that a modern car would require. I would sooner paint it in my shed with a brush than pay £600. There must be someone on here who would do it for a much better price than that.

We do have a paint shop at work. I've tried doing some spraying before but I've never been able to get the hang of it. I always end up with a rough surface or drips.
 
That lightweight looks to be matt nato green - I've painted a couple of landys in the same colour and it applies well with minimal prep either by brush, spray or roller.

I usually buy it from witham paints and oils- 2.5l usually costs about £30. - Witham Oil and Paint
