I am a new owner of an Ex MOD landrover. I am restoring it at the moment, and I have heard that the paint is full of cobalt. If this is true, is there any advice on how to remove it safely.

That's a relief. Thanks alot! Have you got any advice on what to get it off with?
wet sandblasterProduction paper,or a sandblaster.
I want to remove the paint because it is flaking off to the point where you can see the aluminium underneath. My landrover was made in 86 I think, I am not sure but know that it is a D plate.I don't know the age of your Land Rover but wonder why you want to get all the paint stripped of it unless you are going for a fresh from the factory look. If these paint layers are IRR paint, in service it was not be removed as the IRR effect depended not just on the IRR paint applied but on the underlying layers of IRR paint. Even when late S3 LtWts left the factory with IRR paint it was acknowledged that this was insufficient IRR effect to meet the required standard.
