Changed rear pads on my Disco 1 and at the same tightened the wheel bearings. Now, I have a bit of a rubbing noise whilst driving and when I brake to a stand still I get a horrible graunching type of noise. Any ideas?

did you put pads in the right way round??

Have you tightened the wheel bearings to much? I've been told they can plane themselves if the adjuster nut is too tight

I'd say you've overtightened the bearings aswell.

So how tight should they be? I didn't torque them up, just tight by hand.

they have two nuts as they shouldnt be tight at all ,just remove freeplay and no more carefully by hand so you can just feel play removed

but dont put inner seal in wrong way round

That's what I thought I had done. Maybe need to slacken them off a bit perhaps.

I did push pistons back as they were out a little.

Yeh, pads in right way round but when I say tight, what I mean is that the pistons were out a little cos the old pads were thin in comparison to the new ones so I had to push pistons back to create space for new pads.
