Hi Bond Girl,
I gleaned this from another forum;
Wheel speed can be taken from the cruise control unit. This unit is "behind the RH side of fascia right of the steering column" the wire colour you are looking for is either yellow or yellow/red on "Terminal 11 of the Cruise Control ECU (Z121)"
Buy a BMW wiring harness No# 61128377432, then take the four connectors apart and connect as below:
There are already three cables in the harness that connect to three connectors, check the jump-out connectors for them.
Code:
Power:
C0820 (small connector on display)
C1349 (bottom connector on computer)
C1350 (top connector on computer)
C1276 (connector on the back of the BECM, facing rear, hard to reach)
Permanent 12V - C1349 Pin 1 && C0820 Pin 4 -> C1276 Pin 7
Accessory 12V - C1350 Pin 3 && C0820 Pin 5 -> C1276 Pin 6
Illumination 12V - C0820 Pin 1 -> C1276 Pin 2
Ground - C1349 Pin 10 && C0820 Pin 2 -> BECM Ground
For ground I took the utter leftmost black cable running into the BECM
Video:
C0993 (large connector on display)
C1349 (bottom connector on computer)
Red video - C1349 Pin 7 -> C0993 Pin 1
Red ground - C1349 Pin 16 -> C0993 Pin 6
Green video - C1349 Pin 5 -> C0993 Pin 3
Green ground - C1349 Pin 14 -> C0993 Pin 2
Blue video - C1349 Pin 6 -> C0993 Pin 5
Blue ground - C1349 Pin 15 -> C0993 Pin 4
Screen ground - C1349 Pin 12 -> C0993 Pin 7
Control:
C0820 (small connector on display)
C1279 (rightmost connector under fusebox on BECM)
C1291 (frontmost connector on the console side of the BECM, opposite of C1279)
C1350 (top connector on computer)
C1349 (bottom connector on computer)
iBus - C1349 Pin 3 -> C0820 Pin 3
Speed - C1350 Pin 10 -> C1279 Pin 10
Reverse - C1350 Pin 1 -> C1291 Pin 5
Audio:
C1350 (top connector on computer)
Audio- - C1350 Pin 2 -> Speaker-
Audio+ - C1350 Pin 4 -> Speaker+
Connect to a speaker with 4 ohm impedance (volume is quite low, although you can turn it up through the menus)
Hope this helps!
Sam
