hi guys i'm new to this, but husband is away and when the cats away this little mouse wants to play, i've bought a satnav original screen kit for my p38 and want to install it before hubby's return, can anyone direct me where to find the BE CM or even has the pin outs for the speedo (insrument cluster) kind chap off ebay sent me screen wiring loom nav drive etc all labelled up to wire behind stereo which is easy but left with 2 wires ibus? and wheel speed? needed, can any of you tigers help out this little pussy cat even some pics would be nice please, have seen the landi winki effort by Andy c some time back but it doesn't mention location of be cm nor mention of where to connect ibus wire,mmmm strange

rite be cm is under drivers seat but dont know anything else

I gleaned this from another forum;

Wheel speed can be taken from the cruise control unit. This unit is "behind the RH side of fascia right of the steering column" the wire colour you are looking for is either yellow or yellow/red on "Terminal 11 of the Cruise Control ECU (Z121)"

Buy a BMW wiring harness No# 61128377432, then take the four connectors apart and connect as below:

There are already three cables in the harness that connect to three connectors, check the jump-out connectors for them.

Connect to a speaker with 4 ohm impedance (volume is quite low, although you can turn it up through the menus)

This just in............

For anyone considering retro fitting an original factory Sat Nav system in their P38, this relates to the VDO Dayton system only (afaik), that is the one with four rectangular push buttons above a rotary knob on the left of the screen, the MK3 version consisting of CD-Rom computer, control screen and of course aerial and using a BMW 7 E38 series loom.
The fitting of this system has been well documented on this forum with links to another for wiring diagrams etc, however with these the loom needs extending and they show connections to the BECM among others and lifting carpet from footwell to boot.

This really simplifies it for those who like it that way,
the loom stays the same length, the plug pinouts are altered to suit, the CD-Rom fits in the centre cubby hole at the bottom (I've put a false floor over it so to use for reduced storage) and all connections i.e. perm 12v+, 12v- (gnd), switched 12v+ (ign), illum and speed signal are acquired from the radio connections, if your radio plugs don't have a speed sense wire it can be had from the hevac cable (still local), the reverse signal isn't really required as the Gyro in the computer knows the direction of travel, the aerial/receiver can be positioned on the dash by the 'A' pillar, the cable being lost down the edge of the dash and behind the finishing panel beneath the steering wheel. Voila!
