Does anyone know the cheapest way to get a new key made for a p38 range rover as I only have one and it's dodgy as hell. I have to hold the batteries in it to make it work. As fun as this is it's a bit annoying at fuel stations when it takes some fiddling about to get the connection good. Thanks again for any advice

Hi there,

You can get some really cheap cases on Ebay but they arnt that great best thing to do is go and get a new key from a dealer they arnt that expensive £140

Thanks for the advice, just rang my local dealer and it's 137 plus vat. I was a bit scared to ring the dealers after that stupidly high quote but I can live with that price

Nice one. If your keeping it then its worth ponying up the cash. Will save you heartache when it loses sync on something stupid. Or you drop the battery in a puddle....

About 3 weeks ago I bought new plastic shells for my keys, as long as the bits inside are ok and can be transfered into the new parts they are very cheep,I think about £18 for 2 good quality ones, I also transfered the metal bit that fits into the door lock into the new shells ,this saved having new ones cut. Bought off the internet, plenty of choice on there,I cant find the paperwork for details ,we are away from home at the moment.Just found it Chequers motor store. co.uk.
