Ok. Got a keyfob with my 99 p38 diesel. Key performs as normal but fob just lights up.
Replaced the batteries and tried the fob re-sync, the one where you press lock, insert into door, turn to lock and back to centre, remove from lock then repeat for unlock. Tried another variant of this where you hold the lock button and turn the key for 3 secs then remove and release the button.
Either way, it still doesn't work.
What now????

Has it ever worked or is the car new to you? Try operating the FOB standing next the the rear offside window.

Hi there, can anyone help locked my range rove with kids in now it wont open opened the drivers door with the key [got kids out] but it wont open all doors or start tried eac code no joy. Disconnected battery no joy.
Any advise or a auto guy thanks

:welcome2:hi, ive had this happen to me twice in last three weeks .. ist time cost me £150 .00 :doh::doh::doh:and all faults cleared 2nd time two days ago after a few attempts at re-syncin key fob ,ive now found out the exact way to do it ,cost = zero .. all is needed is patience and watching ... here goes and pay attention , if car is locked with alarm set and fob wont open car then you need to use eka code exactly as it says in owners handbook ( presuming ) that dash is showing .. engine disabled . this will then unlck the car and turn off the alarm set . next to syncronise the fob do this exactly as i say and take your time and watch fob light ,,

1) ensure all doors bonnett and boot are all closed properly with handles pushed in flush .

2) insert key into drivers door press lock button on fob and keep finger on so lite is on and turn to left position ( lock ) and hold for 5 seconds rerturn to centre position take finger of lock button press unlock button and keep finger on so lite is on and turn right (unlock ) for 5 seconds return to centre position and take key out open door and put into ignition and turn 2 clicks with fob buttons and lite showwing ,so u can see lite flashing when it stops flashing 4/5 seconds approx turn last cick and engine will start . the fact that you have done the door sync then ignition sync it then tells the becm to accept sync and clear fault from dash. you can then find someone with an autologic kit to clear all faults from becm permanently ... all this may take 1/2/3/ attempts but dont lose heart it will sync at some stage ..i only wish that the first time it happened 3 weeks ago i listened properly and would have saved meself £150 if any one not sure pm me and i give you my no to ring and talk u through it cheers mozz and many thanks to all who helped me !!!

Tried it next to rear wheelarch, tried the lock/unlock resync but to no avail.
I've purchased some new fob buttons so gunna try it again see if that does owt.
I've only just got car and fob dint work and I got no handbook either.
Other than that it's a good car!!!!

Download RAVE, it has the owners hand book as well as all the repair info.
Have a look to see if the RF recever has been disconnected, it's behind the trim rear off side, you only need to take the top plastic panel that supports the parcel shelf off.

sounds like the fob is fooked , the stealers want £120 .00 + and wait 14 days for delivery ?????????
