Bit of an odd one. Need to replace a couple of bulbs in the instrument cluster. Removed the shroud - No problem. Wiring etc. Loosened the retaining screws, 2 top and 2 bottom. Cluster now moves freely, pivoting around its horizontal axis but won't move up or down and no sideways movement. Will not detach from the dash! Am I missing something obvious?

Undo the screws properly.

The bottom screws were fully removed. As you know, you only have to loosen the top two to remove the shroud brackets. For those that don't know

The instrument cluster is held in place by four screws. They must be backed completely out of their holding positions to remove it. But can be left in the cluster. Undo the two plugs and the instrument cluster comes out by tilting the top forwards without any problems.

Which is absolutely correct until the last three words. Almost feels like someone has put super strong double sided tape on the back. I shall give it another wiggle.... Sometime. Losing the will at the moment. At least I know there's not a super secret nail holding it in place.

People I know do use glue with screw drivers on the holes to line the binnacle up, then screw it in.

If you've done a few of these, you'd understand why. If all four screws are out, then a slight wiggle & a pull is all that's needed.

Easiest way to refit is to have the screws sticking out a few mm through the binnacle so they can be positioned in the holders. Taking the screws completely out of the binnacle then trying to refit and position at the same time is not the way to do it.
