Hi Guys
Just tried to star the car, came up gearbox failure, engine disabled, car hadnt been started for a week, any ideas would be good

Thanks guys, I will give it a charge and let you know the outcome.
however I have already disabled the rf in the rear of the car so mebbe its something else draining the battery?

If you have just disconnected the blue wire from the RF receiver, the receiver can still wake up the BECM if it is faulty.:)

battery charged , got the keycode lock out on the dash, cured that, car starts :)
I did disconnect the blue wire from the rf,is this not the fix for waking up the BECM? and if not what is the cure as its getting me down :(
 
What data is saying is a faulty RF can still wake the becm so if your still getting problems try replacing it with a new unit. Lots of things can cause battery drain there a thousands of threads on it. I found that fitting a solar charger to keep the battery topped up all the time sorted all my problems. Maplins do a good selection, or fleabay.
 
Battery drain can be caused by. Failed diodes in alternator, RF unit waking BECM or BECM not sleeping properly, Faulty EAS delay relay, Tired battery.

yep that cured my problems too:D
 
acording to the landrover mag your household computer can wake your BECM if your close enough to it dont no if its true or not my computer has not affected my BECM just thourght i would mention it

Only if it's using WiFi, RF emissions from equipment such as computers is strictly regulated:)

Do you know where I can buy the latest RF for the car and Im thinking of also going down the solar powered route to trickle charge the battery, as I'm at work at mo,does the 12 v cig lighter connection work when the car is switched off as thats how they appear to work ? :D

For the RF receiver it has to be a LR dealer and make sure you get the latest version, do a search on here for the part number.
Thye cig lighter is dead on mine with the ignition off. I modified the aux socket in the boot to be permanantly live to plug in the solar panel. Otherwise direct to the battery via a fuse.

Try different dealers prices seem to vary, or you could try the likes of Island 4 x 4 but I think it may be only from the dealers.

Land Rover have you by the perverbals.

The RF receiver is only available through Land Rover, even to people like Island 4x4 who have to deal with them, but they do get a discount but still works out about 170-00 GBP incl vat.

i know this is old, but i had the AA round on my P38 4.6 on an Mreg the other day as the battery had gone flat. After a 3 hour charge from the AA (battery was dissconnected for this time) the old girl fired up. However now she wont go into top gear and the HI-LO wont select. she will drive but only go up to 3rd gear. Currently trying to get a claim out of the AA as it was fine before they touched it. Battery was drained as i left the doors open for a few days and the inside light drained bty. Any ideas? anyone want it? as just about had enough of it now and its blocking the drive!
 
yu will be luicky - nothing to do with the AA - it was because you let the battery go down.

Search and you will find the answers to your problem.
