hi , your fault lies with the fact you bought a p38 !!!!!!! but hey nevermind have you got deep pockets ??? a good head of hair ??? a sense of humour ??? plenty of time and tools ??? then proceed with caution ,,, use the search engines on here ,,, theres loads of how toos , loads of free and excellent advice and put your location and someone could be near by so you have a NEW best friend to get reliable help from ,, oh download rave !!!!! and give it a good read through ,,,, and finally if you've got some spare cash buy a nanocom ,,,,this can save lots of money in the future and the cost will soon be repaid by NOT going to cowboys and main dealers !!!!!! theres plenty of top lads on here who all specialize in certain faults etc ,,,have fun and welcome to the lunatic asylum ,,,, happy motoring and enjoy your rangie ,, MOZZ SMITH

I agree with Mozz above.....they can be a bit trying...but that's why we love them!!

Sounds like you have a major earth leakage somewhere....

My first thing would be to strip the rear light clusters and check the wiring to them.

After that check the fuse box under the bonnet, they have been known to burn out and cause weird electrical issues.....maybe power is tracking across some corroded contacts on there!

Then, if they all are clean and sound, I'd be tracing the wiring to the wiper motor, maybe someone had issues and have (badly) re-wired it, and took a power feed from the brake light circuit!

Good luck!

My tuppence worth ! I have been having weird electrical and alarm faults ! think I have now traced it to the electrical multi plug behind the kick panel in front passenger seat footwell caused by a caused by blocked drainage pipes forcing causing dampness and corrosion ! Welcome to the nut house :)
