Hi,

I have a p38 2.5DT so just the bog standard gray cloth interior so I bought a full lightstone electric leather interior..

As I understand the electrics for this are controled by the bcam? Will this need to be accessed via rovacom to switch on the power or is it just a plug and play kinda thing? both for the electric opperation and the heater elements? it states that wiring loom is included in the sale.

Thanks
Shaun

For starters, the BECM needs to be a High line model. This can be determined by looking at the label on top of the BECM above the fuse housing. At the l.h. corner of the label will be either "L" or "H" (Low or High spec.). The looms for passenger and driver front seats also needs to be present. Additionally, the door mirrors come in two versions..memory and non memory. The BECM internal coding is different for memory and non memory seat versions

Can i see the label just by looking through the side of the panel or will I have to take the seat or becm out? The guy who i bought seats from said he would include the wiring loom with the seats so that should be ok.. The drivers seat is a memory seat.. I have electric morrors but what difference will the memory/non memory mirror make with the seat opperation? I understand they save there position with the seat memory but im not really bothered about that..

So now I have established that I have the highline BECM what else do I need to do besides plug the wiring loom in between the BECM and the seats?

if you look under the seats, follow the wires and you should feel/see a basic wiring loom for the seats, you will need to obtain the leccy seat loom from scrapyard or someone who breaks em. then just plug it in, and starp the earths down and the memory function will work!

The guy selling the seats is going to include the loom so should be ok.. What about the seat heater function?

look on range rovers. net, there is a section on heated seat repair.

you will need to check em before fitting em, they will probably have burnt out . where the centre 'dip' is in the seat base that runs left to right, there is a metal wires to keep the leather in place and form the shape. the heater element usually goes here, its between the leather and foam.

just peel each side of the leather up, you can do it without stripping the whole base frame off but it is fiddly. poke out the wires and re connect em with some crimp connectors and refit leather and they should work!

you can test em first tho with a multimeter or just plug it in and try it!

fitted the seats... Plugged em in with the wiring loom included.. Everything works perfectly... Even the memory function...

Only problem is the mirrors.. Now when I go in reverse they drop, but dont lift back up when I de-select reverse.. Any ideas?

Did you set the positions of the mirrors in the normal & dip positions (With reverse selected) and "Save" it with the memory button on the seat?

Ah no.. Do i need to save it with the car in reverse? and the mirrors dipped? then save it again in neutral with the mirrors normal?
