hi guys looking for some of your great advice again lol. my problem is this the height adjustment light blinks like mad but the suspension goes nowhere and the rare occasion it goes up after a while as soon as the ignition switched off theres a series of clicking and before you know it im on bumpstops again the thing is theres no eas fault and when i try to use the eas unlocksuite it does nothing for me iv only had the car four weeks and its a new pump recently fitted any advice greatly apreciated

Sounds like you have a major air leak somewhere. If the airsprings are original they are probably the most likely cause, otherwise the diaphragm in the valve block.

Hi Scott, Welcome to LZ :D

We have just overcome the same problem. Fitted new airbags (ours were shagged) but the problem remained. Ours turned out to be a bad earth on the valve block driver - the bolts were terribly corroded. A quick clean up and its running like a dream :)

There are lots of very knowledgeable people on here so you'll get lots of sound advice

Andrea

thanks for the quick reply folks i think its more along the lines of the diaphragm as theres no sound of air leak any where and it is very sudden as soon as ignitions off sounds like solonoids open and it hits the floor

Could still be leaking airsprings, they have a design life of 7/8 years 80K miles. Get under and have look see if they look perished, with some soapy water spray, look for bubbles. If it's the diaphragm leaking that bad I don't think it would go up in the first place.

Echo Datatek - the airbags look OK whilst they are on the car, it's only once they are removed you realised how badly perished they really are....

cheers people i got no idea when or if the bags been changed before so if snow stays away ill get under tomorrow and see how get on keep you posted are the air bags easy enough to change and are the ones from e bay any good?

If you are going to replace spend a little more and go for Gen II Arnotts from P38 Spares. They come with a lifetime warranty :D
They are simple to change - Nothing complex, just require a little encouragement with a crowbar to part company from their housings :) It would be worth searching out Datateks photo guide on changing the bags - it's invaluable :D

hi guys sorry if this is stupid or im stupid but this bloody trucks doing my nut in i went out to the opticians yeterday morning and the truck raised to top setting got to opticians and did my running around and it stayed full tilt throughout the night and this morning then i went out on my cbt with truck at proper ride height got home from that and soon as i got home the bloody thing clicked and dropped to the bottom stops again could this be just luck that it raised and theres still a leak or could it be something to do with the eas valve block sticking open or something its getting me down i just dont want to put it into the main dealer and get ripped off for computer diagnosis for stupid prices that just dont have just now any insight greatly apreciated

That's typical of leaking airbags, the leaks open and close where they fold under, bit like a tyre with a nail in it, park with the wheel in one position and it will stay up, in another position it will go down. If one corner is leaking, the system will frantically try to keep the car level as it goes down.
You can read and diagnose the faults your self if you have a laptop, just need the free EAS software, a cable and maybe a USB to serial adaptor and away you go. Cable £11 plus P&P, USB adaptor from £5 upwards.

hi datatek i got the cable and the free software with the jeep but i cant seem to get it to do anything when i get it to read faults all i get is 7.car has moved and dont know what i should be doing after this point when i click on go to height it doesnt go anywhere still just flashes afetr iv disconected then after a gd run it raises stays up for a while then after 3-4 journeys soon as ignition goes off i get the clicking and then shes on the bumpstops again lol

You need to read the instructions on useing the EAS software. Do you get good idle? That's the first step, if you have good idle, check to see if you can turn the pump on and off and read the sensor heights in the appropriate tab, that will confirm you have communication, then in the first tab unlock the EAS then re-read the faults and come back to us.

cheers datatek ill go out and give that a go as for the instructions i never got any with it its just been trial and error and bits picked up from here

how is your battery? Mine had two dead cells and caused all kinds of bad readings from the EAS ECU.

Does sound more like dodgy compression tho. Can you hear the compressor running constantly when the height is good?

not 100% all the time jerry but more than usual iv just bought it about a month ago and started getting these problems more or less straight away pretty gutted tbh its driving me more nuts everyday sorry wife just informed me its 5 wks since i bought it lol typical know all as for the battery every time i go out it starts first time evrytime even after being left for days at a time
