Certainly the ones supplied by Britpart are 36 mm. But it is not a problem the nuts can be undone or torqued up with one side lifted off the ground so there is no need to have a wheel fitted to do either job.

Takes some serious grunt to shift that nut!
No the VC should lock with that amount of torque. How much torque does the transmission put through the wheels? Think it maybe a little more than 192 lb ft. When i did mine i undid it with wheel on ground but torqued it up with wheel off.

Cannot remember what I did now. Think I may have done the same.
Given it is an R380 box I assume the box can take about 380Nm.

Around 450 in my Disco's little grey book iirc.
So I need a 32mm socket to get the old one off, and a 36mm socket to do the new one back up! Great!!
(I actually got my new hub nut from the same place I got my new bearing assembly and it too is 32mm like to LR original.)
I hate the way Britpart do this. They stuffed me up with some UJ nuts that they sold under the LR part number, but don't fit the original bolts.

Ill chip in with my recent experience.
My D2 has 32mm hub nuts from new, new nuts supplied with the bearings I just fitted were 36mm.
Fine, except on the wheels Ive got the 36mm socket wont fit through the centre hole so I couldn't torque up the nut with the car on the ground.
Also the socket for a 36mm only just fitted the nut, any serious torque and it would have slipped off.
To finish the job I reused the originals, I was very careful taking them off so they were ok. Ill fit new LR ones.
So if you can, buy new original size nuts, much easier.

This is exactly the sort of thing I hate!
I went to shop4autoparts.net for my new bearing assembly, and I also bought a new driveshaft nut from them. It's 32mm and was £1.68p Pretty good I thought.

Yep I was pretty disappointed! I didnt see why the new nut had to be a different size to the OE one.

None of my nuts were staked. There is an identation and the nut is banged into the indentation, if you follow me?
My old ones were 32mm (have that socket) and new ones are 36mm. I have a 36mm impact socket but it doesn't fit in the wheel hole. However, I think the Laser 6279 thin walled 36mm hub-socket will fit through the wheel. I've ordered one from AllParts and will see if it fits when it arrives next week.
