Has anyone tried to dismantle the door mirror?

Mine is knackered (twisted arm, so pointing to floor!!) and I was going to just buy any old colour replacement and then change my cover onto the new mirror.... Is that possible or just tooooo much hassle?

I think the casing is the same colour all the way through as opposed to a clip on cover. Looks like either you get the right colour or a decent aerosol.

ring joe at emmotts and ask him if he got one the same coulor as your car..
