Hi Guys, I am a new member who recently purchased a 2001 2.5 DSE to replace an ageing classic 3.9 petrol that I have had for nearly 40 years - hopefully the P38 will last as long! The P38 has a loud vibration from the engine when started from cold, but only under load and only above 2500 revs. This gradually fades over a 15 minute period and then the engine runs and pulls fine. Several experts have investiagted and have been stumped, including auto gearbox removal and overhaul to no effect. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions as to source of vibration/noise? Thanks, Jaypee.

Maybe the EGR making the car run rough. Common enough thing.

Not sure what you mean by "a loud vibration" is it a loud noise or a felt vibration?
Cold diesels tend to sound a bit like a tractor.

There's always something rattling in mine hot or cold! I thought that was why they put in such a good stereo ;-)
