Hi all,
My P38 diesel is losing power above 2500 rpm, it seams to be dumping all the boost for some reason, its a non egr model, when it dumps the boost it collapses the hoses between the turbo and intercooler and intercooler to manifold, it seams to be worse when the engine is hot, does any ony know if the waste gate is purley mechanical or is electricaly controlled (rave is a little vaugue to say the least it just says there is a bypass plate). I was thinking that its maybe the map sensor thats faulty or possibley the lift pump not delivering enough fuel. There is another post on the forum, but no conclusion?
any help much appreciated.

Its the intercooler hose. You just need a new hose.
After time, the hoses get less stiff and the pressure causes the hose to collapse.
Its worse when its warm as the hose collapses easir.

I replaced the top hose with a silicon one, the top one stopped collapsing, but problem moved to bottom hose (unless that ones knackered aswell). But surely when driving hard, anything after the turbo would be in positive pressue?

Yep, both hoses need to be replaced.
The hoses collapse due to vaccum effect.

Where did you get the silicone one from?

Will try changing bottom hose, Got the top one from Hoses direct, its near where i live, the do everything from braided hoses to agricultral hoses. cant rember how much it was, think it was around £20 (but was not one made up it was 2 90 degree bends with a connecting piece, but they can make specific ones up if you want, but cost a lot more.
