I have recently purchased a 1995(N) 4.0SE Automatic which has cut out on several occassions without any warning (VERY DANGEROUS!). Each time it has cut out it has taken around 20 attempts/10 minutes to restart. This morning I started it in my driveway (from cold and started first turn), I left it idling for about 5 minutes then it cut out. It took about 20 attempts to restart (it was starting but then cutting out immediately), I then moved it about 10 yards when it cut out again - I tried 10 times to restart it but no joy! I then contacted an auto electrician who came to the vehicle within an hour - IT STARTED FIRST TIME AND RAN WITHOUT PROBLEM FOR THE HOUR THE ELECTRICIAN WAS THERE
I then took it out for a few test drives and it performed perfectly! Has anybody had a similar problem? I am 25 miles and a short ferry crossing from the nearest Land Rover Specialist with diagnostic equipment and I am not keen to drive the 25 miles (mostly motorway) while there is a danger of the engine cutting out!! Any comments would be very helpful. Thanks, Kenny
