The battery contact on the circuit board of my key fob broke off shortly after I got it. I made repair with solder but I would prefer to do a better job as sometimes it doesn't work. Would anyone have a keyfob that they will sell, doesn't need tobe working. I have tried to get on fleabay but they go for silly money. I can pay by paypal or draft.

As all Range Rover keys are pre-programmed to an individual car there's no point in buying another faulty key, unless you can transfer the innards from yours. But you're saying that it's the board that's faulty in yours so transferring a board from another key wouldn't operate your car.

Thanks, but I plan to de-solder the battery contact and fit to mine. Otherwise I know it's big bucks!

Do you mean tag with numbers on? or the tag that snags the tab from the batt neg? the latter is the one I need, I have a blob of solder instead at the moment. For awhile I was getting the message of low battery with new batts, but message is gone for last week. However it reminds me to sort it out before it sticks me! Yes, I have one with both contacts intact. Obviously the fob will not work on your car as I do not have the Fob code.

Thanks to Irishrover for supplying me with donor fob. I have cannabilised it, transferred tang, fitted new cover and batteries, synced it & all is good.
I have attached some pics and notes as help for others as I could not get info elsewhere. Perhaps it's a one off breakage.

When I got the RR and fob attempted to fit new batts. However cover was in bad shape so I got new one & button pad.
When I opened I found the tang on the board was in bits. I put some solder on it but connection was bad.
To transfer from donor I opened the case.
As it would not prise apart I used a sharp knife and hammered it into the join all around to split it. As per pic this is not a good idea if you needed to use the case again. The back of the fob has a rim that fits into a groove in the front and is glue in. The way I did it I have sheared off that rim.

The tang is soldered at one point only with another leg just locating a hole.

I realise now that there was no need to get to the other side of the board.
It can be done through the batt hole, to either heat it to remove or attach it.
