lets the ecu know what gear position youve selected they are adjustable
It has a micro switch that tells the transfer ECU that low range is being selected, when you push gear lever into centre of gate. If that switch is stuck shut (closed circuit), if you select a high range gear or the neutral position is not being found by XYZ switch the select neutral message will appear.

On the high side I can select any gear and the y'all work and do what they say on the tin. Park reverse forward etc. neutral pits car in non drive just low that don't work

Sounds like the motor isn't moving. Could still be the microswitch.
When you select low axle the transfer ECU has to receive a signal that the gearbox is in neutral or it won't drive the motor. If you only get select neutral message when you select low axle then the ECU is not getting that signal. My impression was that you had select neutral message all the time. Please clarify what you have.

Ok when in high park, high drive. High Reverse it says select neutral and when I put it in neutral sometimes it says select neutral if I put in low or neutral sometimes changes to airbag fault

SNAP! I have all these symptoms, I have changed the transfer ecu - that had no effect. I have looked today at the large (something) on the side of the transfer box, it is held on with three bolts so limited possibility of moving it - or am I looking at the same thing?
I will pull the centre console out tomorrow night, - Taxi, I will let you know if that works, may well try and help each other resolve the same issue.
With regards the battery, mine did this when running low on charge or when I hadn't tightened the clamps on the terminals.
Look at the switch next to the gear lever then. Or the connections to it. Not clue why airbag fault would come up.

The white plug going into switch looks ok how do you adjust this switch looks well encased

Lil yes that would be good like everyone just want the solution then everyone else can have it too
Put a multimeter on pins 4 and 5 move gear lever to low axle and back a few times should be open circuit in high and closed circuit in low. If it still shows closed circuit in high it's sticking. Don't know how it's adjusted James may know that.

Ok will have a look .. Maybe just as well to change whole gear lever and micro switch together

You would think with all the electrics on here there would be some super duper laptop diagnostic program that you plugged in and it told you what error was causing select neutral pointing to exact component failure .... I wish
