Your talking about MY models, well actually no! They are the same I'm afraid. Most problems have been updated after the last P38's rolled off the production line. For example, the latch and the loom from the door to the security system has been changed, the RF receiver has also been changed 3 times. All of which were defects in the original design by LR which was corrected by BMW afterwards. If your in for a Range Rover you need to look at L322's from 2004 onwards for more reliability.

J Jay-4.6HSE New Member Feb 16, 2009 #3 nop there all the same. Just replaced x4 air bags! fixed the water leak (valley gasket) and now have the HEVAC error with the offside fan blower. I had a mondeo courtesy car and after getting back in to the RR, realised how good the car actually is, so it's staying for a while. The 99> cars are a higher spec but not sure what the Thor/Gems engine differences are?

For me, its because my P38 is 12 years old and is now like everyone else, is now seeing the part failures occur and we are paying for it. Just had the latch and loom fixed for a cool £900 odd. Compressor £400, RF receiver £140, Exhaust £600, new battery £100, 120amp alternator £150. And the list continues....if the car was 1-5 years old, most of us would be having a whale of time.
