hi does any one know where the beed valve is to bleed the power steering i think its on the pump but cant seem to find it, the rave manual doesnt say where it is ust says to undo it while the engine is running and bleed the fluid many thanks
didn't think you could bleed it? after filling cars in the past from empty i just did a few turns lock to lock, could be wrong in this case though with them having a steering box and all, what makes you want to bleed it?
I drained the steering fluid when I took the engine out last year. Didn't bleed it, just went from lock to lock as Joshy did. I will have a look on Rave and come back if I find any thing.
Yes, it mentions the bleed screw but does not show the location. It could be a bleed nipple or a small bolt with a copper sealing washer underneath.
The repair info. also tells to turn the wheel from lock to lock.
i found it on a page some where on the net its next to the adjuster scew on the steering box, reason i have to bleed it is i only went and put brake fluid in the resovoir what a **** er.
Can you not slacken a pipe off and let the pump flush it out whilst topping the bottle up with ATF until it runs clear. Turn the wheel from lock to lock whilst doing it.
Decided to have a look under the bonnet and yes, it appears there is a bleed screw on top of the steering box about 20mm to the right of the adjusting screw/locknut
i need to fill my steering system after the engine swap, is it essensial to bleed it? if so shall i just leave the steering still and open the nipple until fluid comes out? what is the capacity of the system?
