Hi all RR lovers,
I'm new in these forum,so,for the start, i have simple question - can sombody teel me IS THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SAME ON P38(mine is 2,5 diesel,1998) RR WITH AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL GEARBOX? Mine become "noisy",and i have to change him with one used diff(free) wich is from the same car(P38,2,5 diesel,1998) but with manual gearbox?
Thanks in advance...
(sorry for bad english.I'm from Macedonia,ex Yu,and no many RR here)

yes they would be the same, there are 4 pin and 2 pin diffs ,front and rear with the difference been that crown wheels and pinions are handed but would all fit

Wow,it was fast...
Thank You very much JamesMartin. Now I'll have to ask my mechanik if he can "recognise" 2 or 4 pins on my and other(spare) diff. By the way, the same mechanik make my diff "noisy" - he overtorque the differential bolt(20 nm,and after that we read that normal torque is 10 nm!!!), and after 2-3 mounts i start hearing noise from diff, espetialy when I lift the pedal driving 50-60 miles and slowing down. Some other mechanik sugest that becouse of overtorquing some 2 bearings and "spliter" betwean them are "gone". What do You sugest James? Changing all diff(wich is havy work), or some part of diff(the case with 10 bolts only, maiby)? However, thanks again James. Hope we'll stay in touch, considering that we,RR owners in Balkan, learn many "cheap" ways to solve some big problems on P38.

presumably bolts holding diff to case ,it wouldnt matter ,not much of a mechanic if needed to use torque wrench on them ,not uncommon for diff bearing to wear epecially on vehicle over 10 years old usually by your description bearing behind diff flange but i would allways strip diff and do both bearings ,viscous coupling bolted on front of transfer box stiffening or seizing often harms front diff first ,you can check by jacking one front wheel up and trying to turn wheel with large bar on wheel nut should be stiff but turn smoothly if not replace rtc6044 same as classic v/c

Thanks again James. Now i'll send all our conversation as e-mail to my mehanik, and I hoppe he will understand what You suggest. For me tehnical language is still "strange". Thanks for support, understanding and willing to help.(sorry for my english...)
