Has anyone else noticed how overpriced some Freelanders are up here in Scotland. I had to buy mine ('03' TD4 Auto) from down South & have it shipped up a few months ago - saved a fortune. Even now one dealer is after £5995 for a "51" plate TD4 model with undisclosed mileage (lets face it if it was low they would be trumpeting about it) & I've seen one optimist trying to shift a "98" 1.8 petrol jobbie with over 80k on the clock for over £3000. Mine cost £4700 (plus £300 transportation) done 52k FSH, fresh MOT & standard 3 months warranty. The dealer even emailed a clause stating that if I was unhappy upon delivery to just ask the delivery guy to return it & I would only pay the £300 transportation. The nearest at the time up here was a year older, 62k at £6500. I was after an auto 3 door which made things more awkward & I know it was a risk, but £1500 come on. I think they're still using last years price guides, but I'm sure there are some honest folk who just didn't have in stock what I needed.

Nah, i think yer gettin confoozded, when they advertise the price on a gaylander it's the price they pay you to take it away!

Think Scotland has a higher demand for LR. Is there still a waiting time for defenders.?

It's strange. Defenders are cheaper up north than they are down south.

There's always been differences in the prices of most cars in different parts of the country. This is something that car magazines have reported and done articles on ad nauseum for (at least) the last 20 years.

It's a simple supply and demand thing. Different cars are more/less popular in different parts of the country (and the world) and therefore the proce varies accordingly. It's just like the old cabrios are cheaper in the winter thing.

Always just shop around until you find what you want at the price you want.

Yeah it seems your right, I just didn't expect the difference to be so much.

we did a 700mile round trip for our freelander, all the way to basildon in essex, saved £1500, the same car up here was fetching £4000

Glad to see I'm not just imagining this, I think you did the best thing with yours. I took a bit of a chance remote buying but it seems to have worked well.
