You are a legend mate probably wouldn't buy some of this stuff without you on my side thanks will go through it over next day or so
Cant resist it mate its black hse, black leather it's also only 30 miles away
Dealers dont normally want you to diagnose issues as give you extra bargaining chip Lol but he's holding it for me first dibs and it's already less than half price of a forecourt one
Going to order oil and filter will change oil as first step but will see what diagnostic says may even drive it home running live data can always call the AA Lol thanks once again sure I'll be picking you brains again soon thanks all

Spot on mate as indeed it looks like it’s located inside

The fluid temperature sensor is integrated into the internal wiring harness within the transmission sensor unit. It detects the

Number 4 ATF TCM

temperature in the transmission and transmits a signal corresponding to the temperature to the . The monitors
the temperature and adjusts clutch and brake application to provide smooth gear shifts across a wide range of temperatures
and viscosities.

My god, what an absolute sod.
Designed by a sadist or what?

Really in two minds I said Couldn't view until Wednesday to give myself some thinking time thanks for your input mate much appreciated
At the end of the day it's a gamble of which I am used to could need flush but on the other hand could be expensive but sport itself is cheap and is hse
I only buy stuff that is mint inside and out apart from the obvious issue normally engines
You and @gstuart will be first to know with my diagnostic I can email him a full report or health check still debating whether to collect or go for it drive it home
Thanks once again

If I had not much else to do, I'd do a bit of this. Round here peeps will sell a car just cos it's failed an MOT.
A bloke two doors down does it and has them on his front drive with prices on! Saw a Porsche the other day.
I have yet to ask him where he gets them from.
Surprised the curtain twitchers haven't had a go at him. change of use or summat!;)

Got home safe and sound yes I bought it @Stanleysteamer
What a night Drove it 12miles slowed at junction could smell brakes lucky had window open stopped in next layby brakes hot too hot to continue couple at light smoking stage so onto plan b missis my lift over abandoned me for KFC on way home so called my mate who after laughing for five minutes came over with his flat bed lorry and rescued me, can tell you heat seats and sound system are spot on
Parts cannon already on max tailgate struts ordered and latch definitely issues there want to make sure its water tight
Brakes all round discs and pads sensors will assess calipers
Gearbox was fine upto the point of calamity
Oil and filter on way so will be able to check out the oil quality going to look at how to get as much out as possible and take a look at the position of the module and temp sender
May get it flushed at local overland down the road will see would also be the possibility of getting the temperature sensor done at same time if not diy possible
Overall chuffed at moment runs quiet no rattles nice specification will post some pictures on my D4 thread tomorrow all the best

Bless u and ur than welcome my friend and glad that any of it is a small contribution to u in helping with any problems etc

Always nice being able to pass it on so to speak on what I’ve learnt from the wonderful forum members here

Hope all goes well mate and will keep an eye on the thread as always enjoy threads like this

Always nice seeing a different motor and how they’ve changed etc

The main casing retains the ATF (automatic transmission fluid) at the bottom. A drain plug is located in the main casing.

The oil level is checked by removal of a level plug, with the engine running and the transmission fluid at a temperature of between

37 to 45°C (99 to 113°F). The level is correct when the oil flow becomes a drip from the level plug hole.

The transmission has a fluid cooler which is located at the front of the transmission, adjacent to the fluid pan. The cooler is
connected to the transmission casing by two sealed connections check out bmw parts in uk. The fluid cooler is connected into the engine cooling system and cools the transmission fluid by heat transfer through the cooler to the engine coolant.

For additional information, refer to: Transmission Cooling (307-02 Transmission/Transaxle Cooling, Description and
Operation).
For the gearbox overheating issue, start by checking the oil, filter, and cooler, and perform a flush. Inspect the fluid quality for signs of overheating or contamination and ensure the fluid level is correct. If the problem continues, a second-hand gearbox might be needed. Also, check for fault codes related to the transmission and inspect the radiator and cooling system, as issues there could affect the gearbox temperature.

I liked your post as soon as I saw it but didn't get around to seeing how good it has been since. Hope all is fine and you are happy with it! :):):)

Sorry mate moved my ramblings to my D4 engine removal thread, yes thanks doing ok fingers crossed seems brake switch and haldex unit were causing main issues, also changed a headlight module, rain sensor and rear camera all corroded inside, changed transmission fluid twice and cooler engine oil and filter, not no advisories seems ok done about 70 miles no lights bell or whistles so far so good and had @gstuart in my corner so no worries, it seems several different things were causing weird electrical problems
Hope your well mate check out my D4 thread for blow by blow, since put motor in my 09 all good, back on sdv6 motor same story appalling maintenance and of course some welding and brake pipes for G Lol all the best

Alas I was just replying to a good mate so isn’t my vehicle , after a lot of testing he resolved it due to several water logged modules which upset the canbus system which threw all sort of dtc’s

Sound advice with u saying about the filter, fluids etc but Must confess I’ve always stayed well away from flushing gearboxes out due to bits being moved around the internals and also cleaning the clutches off where others then suffer with a slipping gearbox , jolting etc

Of course understand there’s a mixture of opinions on it so indeed my own personal choice

Still jealous that u guys got the D4 fitted with the petrol 5.0 where we didn’t so as we have to import them mainly from Japan

Bless u my friend and glad being able to help here and there is useful to u

Credit where credit is due for u finding the water logged modules and working through the canbus system,

It certainly threw a spanner in the works that for sure in upsetting many other modules on the canbus system, over the moon for u mate as always nice when the error lights go out one by one

Also following ur latest D4 engine rebuild thread , really do enjoy seeing these rebuilds and learn a lot of new things

Words will never be enough of how grateful I am to u with regards to the welding , brake lines etc , look forward thanking u in person , , hope ur enjoying the sunshine mate
