@gstuart @sierrafery thanks for the info but the connectors on the car are fine it's the botched up bullet connectors I squashed up and crimped some cable on that fell apart
It's good to know that it's the same plug for all sensors, at least I know I was testing both with the same connections. I will make some better ones up when I get a chance and test the faulty one again as I don't see how I got a permanent 5v on the signal wire.
I have ordered a BNC to banana adaptor cable so I can try it with my cheapo clip on ammeter, at least if it doesn't work I can eat it I want to see if the starter motor test I saw online has any merit.
If there's anything in particular you want me to look at that doesn't involve taking everything apart give me a shout.

- Red wire to Pin 1 (5V)
- Green wire to Pin 2
- Orange wire to Pin 3
- Blue wire to Pin 4 (Signal)
- Yellow wire to Pin 5 (Ground)
- White wire to Pin 6

good to hear it’s of use to u , since moving into the D3 I’ve found half the battle is having the data , at least then u know what u should in theory be seeing
haven’t been able to find the in depth wiring diagrams , but assume that’s because its where garages pay for the access to the more detailed wiring diagrams , controls etc
Imagine many are getting a lot of projects done
@gstuart totally agree 90% of the battle is getting the info, garages obviously will want to protect there buisness/cash cow.
Lucky for me my local indipendant is very helpfull and the currency for knowledge is the standard tea and biscuits donation.
EDIT: Actualy they are the only reason I still have a LR as they have helped me with my D1 D2 & L322 where as no fooker could help when my Subaru legacy broke.

@gstuart @sierrafery decided to order a height sensor connector after all. Suspensions taking the **** again so for £17 it will help with testing.
Also ordered a cheap clip on ammeter as mine won't connect to the scope.

That’s a good price, shouldn’t take too long to calibrate the new one
did buy a Hantek clamp meter a little while ago , was ideal for when I was tracing residual battery drain, should also be ok for when I finally get an oscilloscope
hope the Hantek is also useful
I was looking at the 650 amp one, it's only about £80 from China but the shipping details were a bit worrying, import tax etc so I went for a £25 one that should do the job.
Think The 650 also has a larger clamp

TBH it hasn't been out of the box since I ordered the ammeter a few weeks ago. And her indoors moans enough about me spending time fixing things that are broke, never mind playing with things that are working.
I did use it to test some AAA batteries and yes it proved the were flat
Quick update. Got a replacement speaker for one that had melted so thought it best to make sure the amp wasn't chucking out too much power before fitting it. Sorry about the picture, some strange orange ball appeared in the sky and gave me a few issues.
