Has anyone fitted OME front coils to a facelift Disco II with ACE.
Their website says something about the lifted springs affecting the front driveline. (may create noise or something) Can't now find disclamer otherwise would have cut and paste.
 
Ahaa, just found it.
Caution: Due to altered gearbox mounts on models after 1998 any lift above
OE ride height may cause front driveline vibration that can only be rectified
by fitment of a front double cardan propshaft.
 
That bit of info seems wrong!
Not sure whether the D2 (which was introduced in late 1998) has different gearbox mounts compared to a D1, but they all have double cardan front propshafts as standard.
Many people have lifted their D2s by 2 inches or more & I've not heard of any complaints of increased vibration.
Reduced life of the propshafts UJs is to be expected though as they then have to work through a more extreme range if angles.
 
Thanks mate, thought that might be the case. Specs do say OME springs ‘free length’ only longer by 10-15 mm so just thought I’d put the question out there to the locals. Cheers mate!
 
Beware that free length increase of 10 ~ 15mm could lift the car a lot more - as the spring rate (stiffness) is likely to be higher than standard
 
Yeah your right, bit more research on tinterweb tells me the new spring rate would be 180lbs/in compared with OE of 150. OME website says expected lift of 40mm ish. In my experience I think the old girl probably survive that. As you said, just have to keep an eye on CV’s and UJ’s. At least getting underneath for the inspections will be a little easier
Will post my results of before and after measurements at front hub to arches in case anyone is interested.
 
Gonna keep the air as the bags and lines were all renewed before I bought it a year ago. Need to measure the angle of the ride height sensor brackets before and after as well I guess. Was hoping because I'm only changing the fronts springs, and not by much hopefully, might get away with not having to adjust them. Or is that a classic rookie mistake?
Recently put Bilstein shocks in the rear but might keep it all OME at the front.
 
Yeah have thought about that. Which is why I'm gonna fit front springs first and check all the heights and angles of 'ride height sensors' at rear afterwards. I know if I fit rear spacers 100% gonna have to adjust or fabricate new bracket for rear sensors. Fingers crossed the new front springs don't change anything to dramatically. If I only get 20-30mm lift at front I think I might be right. Although I'll have to see how she sits after. Don't want her looking like I'm driving around with two ton of gear in the back the whole time. Gonna order springs over the w.e. and hopefully get em fitted next week. Post some before and after shots if it's noticeable.
 
Spacers come with brackets for the height sensors (you can see them in the link above). And after you fit the spacers you can adjust the height at the back using a nanocom in order to match the front height (if it's too high for example). If you lift the rear using nanocom without fitting the spacers you can risk having the bags over-extending and blowing off. This ofcourse has also had to do with the shocks (lenght,travel etc).

It gets complicated after a point.
 
To be fair am not really wanting a lift at this point, just figured if I’m replacing front springs may as well put in a better than OE option if their is one. But thanks for the heads up about adjusting the rear settings with nanocom.
