I used an electric sender too. I found it fitted ok, but the sender needs to be between the 4 and 6 o'clock position as you look at the engine, otherwise it'll be a tight fit. I used PTFE on the threads to ensure a nice tight fit, I suppose if the 'T' wasn't in the correct position the first time you screw it in, you could put a bit more on making a tighter fit and allowing the branch to face the right direction.
