Hi any idea's I have an engine oil leak drivers side rear of engine it's lower than the pulley but above the sump. It's engine oil and not from the ird/drive shafts. I washed it all down last weekend but so much has come out I cannot see the source, is there a common fault?.

You sound very local to me Tannebri!!!

Drivers side of the L series has the oil filter and oil cooler feeds. Possible candidates. In additon a leak higher up can drop oil down, confusing the source location. My L series leaks a little oil from the rocker cover. Not much but makes a right mess.

Could be a leak from the high pressure oil pipe thet runs between the alternator and the engine block.Best check it out because if its you lose a small bit over time until it just bursts and sprays oil all over the engine bay and the brake discs.Thats from personal experience.

Thank you gents

Will be looking at the oil pipes and o ring seals. Also the pipe between alternator and block..

it it a known problem that oil leaks from the oil filter on the l-series, landrovers solution was to tell owners to tighten it up some more.
