hi I need a bit of help, I have oil leaking what seem to be from the centre of the shaft it is not getting into the brakes, but onto the out side of the wheel. I have cleared the breather which was blocked. I have put the two new seals in, at the same time I changed the bearings. I have fitted new hub caps. lasted a couple of days then it started to leak again it driving me mad. :boom:

When mine was leaking oil like that it turned out my half shaft was knackered. have you jacked up the wheel and checked for excessive movement?

A little oil will always try and work along the half shafts but I imagine it would be worse with a badly scored shaft. Did you grease the o ring before pushing the hub cap on? If not I may not be seated properly

No I have not as yet but its booked in tomorrow for mot. fingers crossed if it goes through I will then have the time to work on it again

Thanks blue no I did not it snapped on tight but I can turn it but can't get the bugger back off any ideas on which tool to use

Couple of flat screwdrivers as prybars is the usual way. A little silicon to help the o ring to do it's job won't do any harm.

Good luck with the MOT

thanks blue I will try to get it off in the morning I have a tube of white silicon I will wack some around the o ring and the edge of the cap and hope for the best
